Hmm... This weekend

So this weekend we have a retirement cake to make. Our fabulous guest of honor will be pleasantly surprised with her custom cake. I am toying with the idea of using our amazing pound cake as a base and then adding a caramel sauce layer and dark chocolate ganache between the layers of cake. This would be for the top cake which will be at least 3 layers thick.

I have a fabulous friend who taught me the simplest way to make the most amazing caramel sauce and in the cooking process you can then choose how firm it will be. For the center of a cake I really want it to be soft and almost soak into the cake to give it that rich caramel flavor without overwhelming the chocolate. Well, we will see how it goes. So for now we are going for a chocolate caramel cake.

Perhaps the lower layer will be a plain sour cream chocolate cake with a layer of raspberry and buttercream. This will be a fairly large cake as it will need to feed about 50 people. I will post pics on Monday... but for now it is a bit of a surprise so Shhhh.....

Our first blog entry....

Well, today is a great day. We have been putting together some great cake ideas for this coming weekend and are getting excited to try out some fabulous new combinations of secret ingredients.... It's all hush- hush for now.

Kaity has been busy planning out more fantastic cupcake ideas too and some candy for the holidays so keep your eye out for that to come.

We are very excited to get our blog up and running and give you all an opportunity to see the great stuff that we do! I will post pictures of some of our amazing cakes and things periodically so come back often and we would love to have you become one of our fans!!
